Marmots have thick, coarse coats which keep them warm in their mountain habitat. When the temperatures become too cold the marmot hibernates in a sleeping nest deep in its burrow. The marmot family hibernates together. Marmots divide their days between sunning and feeding. The marmot diet consists of roots, grass and plants. The alpine marmot is found in Europe, while other species are in North America and Asia. [BM] {FW}
