Sealing the entrance of the burrow the jerboa keeps the heat from penetrating its daytime quarters. Jerboa range from 1.5 to 6 inches in length, the tail is generally longer than the body, ranging from 3 to 10 inches in length. The fur of the jerboa is a soft sandy colour. In some species the ears are quite large like that of a rabbit; in other species the ears are quite small, like that of a mouse. This rodent can be found in northern Africa and Asia. [BM] {FW}
