Guinea pigs are characterized by their stout bodies, large eyes, small fleshy ears and small tail. A close relative of the guinea pig is the Patagonian hare. This member of the guinea pig family is unusual as it has rather long legs and rabbit-like ears. Both wild guinea pigs and Patagonian hares are burrowing rodents found in South America. [BM] {FW}
