Crested Porcupine 2
The crested
porcupine has a stocky build, small head and large, bushy tail. Contrary to popular folklore these
quills are not 'shot' by the porcupine, rather the
porcupine defends itself by a flick of its prickled tail. Quills more usually become imbedded in a
predator when the predator is ill or extremely hungry and is willing to attack the porcupine. Only
the most skilled hunters are able to roll the porcupine over and attack its soft belly.
