The body of the beaver is stout and covered in rough brown fur which is waterproofed by a body oil. This body oil also provides protection from the cold. Beavers are able to stay submerged up to 15 minutes, having valves which close off their small ears and nostrils. Beaver are monogamous and can be found living in colonies of up to 12 individuals. Beavers can be quite destructive in their removal of trees and damming of waterways. MORE! [BM] {FW}
