While mating the bull and cow are very affectionate with one another, gently caressing the partners neck and shoulders with the trunk. Gestation is extremely long lasting 22 months. The young elephant weighs approximately 200 lbs at birth. The African elephant is found in Africa south of the Sahara, and the Indian elephant is found in Sri Lanka, Burma, Malaya, Sumatra and Thailand. Back to Elephant. [BM] {FW}
