Tarsier
There are 3 species of tarsier. Their relatives lived during the Eocene period, 40 to 55 million
years ago. Very similar in many respects, the present day tarsier differs primarily by being
nocturnal, thus having enormous eyes. It is postulated that as the different species of primates
evolved, the monkeys and apes were quite successful, demanding the tarsier to assume safer
nocturnal habits. The tarsier ranges in size from 4 to 6
inches. MORE!
