Tapir
Fossils suggests that the tapir was wide spread 20 million years ago. Remaining
pockets of tapir are now separated by great distance geographically. One species of tapir is found
in southeast Asia, while the remaining 3 species are found in South and Central America. Tapir are
about 6 feet long, have short legs and a stout build. Weighing up to 700 lb, they are
characterized by their large, erect ears and greatly extended snout. MORE!
