All rhinoceros have poor vision, but have superb sense of hearing and smell. The rhinoceros mark their territory with huge heaps of dung. These heaps of dung may be over 4 feet in height, 20 feet across. Young rhinoceros are born after a gestation period between approximately 450 and 550 days. Young may suckle for over a year and have lived to reach 45 years in captivity. Rhinoceros are related to horses and tapir. Back to Rhinoceros. [BM] {FW}
