The killing was deeply inhuman as
many animals were left dead or dying to rot under the scorching sun. By 1820 their range had
greatly decreased and only a small pocket was left. It was not realized that all the quagga had
been killed until zoo's came looking for
replacement animals. It was shocking to discover that all the quagga had been killed. Hopefully
we can learn from our past mistakes.
