The marsupial mole reaches 3.5 inches in length and is characterized by long, silky fur, a short, stumpy tail, weak almost unnoticeable eyes and very small holes for ears. These burrowing animals have strong claws and a bony shield covers the nose. The pouched marsupial moles are highly active, constantly searching for food.
