There are 48 species of mongoosees. The largest species reaches 4 feet in length of which less than half is tail. The mongoose has small ears, course greyish-brown fur, and bushy tail. The legs of the mongoose are short and the body is long. Generally living solitary lives the mongoose can be seen by day and by night. Wherever they are seen they are both loved and hated.
