Black-footed Ferret 2
In North America black-footed ferrets have fed
primarily on prairie dogs. However, with the reduction of prairie dogs the number of black-footed
ferrets has decreased. Throughout history ferrets have been used to flush out rabbit burrows. The
ferret is a fast and successful hunter with a very acute sense of smell. Ferrets are now commonly
kept as pets. Domesticated ferrets can reach up to 5 feet in length.
