When frightened and as a form of defence the badger will hiss, bare its teeth and bristle its fur until it is twice its normal size. This show is quite shocking and deters many enemies. The badger is nocturnal, leaving the sett at nightfall to feed on earthworms, rabbits, mice and other small mammals. Badgers will occasionally kill poultry, for which they are persecuted.MORE!
