Peccaries live in herds and depend primarily on their speed and agility for defense. Feeding at dawn and dusk, the peccary has an excellent sense of smell and is able to locate food an inch under the ground. The collared peccary is primarily a herbivore, while the diet of the white-lipped peccary includes insects and grubs and carrion. Peccaries are found in South and Central America.Back to Peccary.
