Camels were originally found in North America. Fossilized remains reveal that different species of camel existed some 45 million years ago. These fossilized remains reveal that some species were as small as a hare, while others reached an astounding 15 feet at the shoulder. The two remaining species stand up to 6 feet at the shoulder and may weigh over 1000 lbs. Camels are found in Asia and Africa. Few camels exist in the wild and most have been domesticated.
