The coat is warm and woolly and white in the winter for camouflage and light yellow in the summer. The horns which are worn only by the male are strongly ringed and have a beautiful amber colour. Usually living in herds which number from 50 to 100 individuals, very large herds with over 1000 individuals come together during the rutting season in December.
