Oryx
There are 3 species of oryx: the gemsbok, the Arabian oryx and the scimitar oryx. There is a
northern race of gemsbok which is known as the beisa. These 3 species of antelope all share the
marvellous characteristic of long, sweeping, ridged horns. The gemsbok, as seen in this photograph,
is 4 feet in height, and
has a fawn coloured coat with black markings on the face and along the flanks toward the
hindlegs. The underbelly is white. MORE!
