Nyala 2
Male nyalas are also characterized by a red patch of fur on the forehead, a fringle of
hair on the throat and on the underparts. Nyala are shy antelope, living singly or in small herds
numbering no more then 16 individuals. A single calf is born to a female nyala in September or
October. Habitat appropriate for the nyala is dispersed in pockets throughout Africa, north of the Saharra.
