Hartebeest 3
They can be seen grazing on grasses in small herds, and usually number no more then 15 members. The
herd lives in a well defined territory which is valiantly protected by the dominant male leader.
Male hartebeests will fight violently, clashing horns, in defense of their home range. There is a
strong hierarchical order within the hartebeest herd. Hartebeests live on the open plains throughout
Africa. Back to Hartebeest.
