Gnu

There are 2 species of gnu, or wildebeest as they are called in Afrikaans: the white-tailed gnu and the brindled gnu. The white-tailed gnu is now only found only on protected preserves or private land; whereas the brindled gnu remains abundant in the wild. These rather ugly antelopes stand 4 feet at the shoulder and share a resemblance to cows. They have short necks, large, elongated muzzles and a mane.
