Chiru
The saiga and chiru are closely related. Both have a nasal feature which makes them quite unique
among the family of antelopes. The nasal cavity of both species is large and puffy. Lined by moist
mucus membranes, the air which passes through this cavernous space is warmed and moistened.
In this way chiru are able to live in a very cold and arid climate. Chiru are found in
Tibet living between 12 and 18,000 feet. MORE!
