Blesbok 3
Both the blesbok and the bontebok are protected animals as their numbers have seen a sharp
decline through hunting and a change in their habitat to cultivated land. Both species once fell
prey to lions and leopards. Blesbok and bontebok feed on grass, but do not compete as they are
found in different regions. The bontebok is found on the lower coastal areas of South Africa, and
the blesbok is found higher up, on the plains of the Karroo and the Transvaal. Back to Blesbok.
