There are approximately 36 species of electric ray. Most can be distinguished by an almost circular head and body with slender tail. Electric eels spend most of their time lying on the sea floor. Members of the electric eel family have stinging organs located or their undersurface, tail and head region. By wrapping their fins around the victim, they stun their prey and consume it. Large rays can put out 200 volts. [BM] {FW}
