Trogon
There are approximately 35 species of the tropical bird known as the trogan. Ranging in size
from 9 to 13 inches this bird has a long tail, rounded wings and a short beak. The plumage
is bright and beautifully coloured, allowing the bird to camouflage well in the sunlit
rainforest. Trogons feed primarily on insects and fruit. They can be found from America
through to Africa, India, southern China and the warm islands of the Philippines and the
East Indies.
