The horned owl is distinguished by the beautiful horn-like tufts of feathers on the crown of it's head. The most popular and well known horned owl is the great horned owl. This large bird reaches 60 cm in height and has a wingspan of approximately 200 cm. The plumage is a soft mottled brown. Like most owls the great horned owl feeds on small rodents and birds.
