Standing 45 cm in height, the Adelie is black and white in colour. Like other penguins the Adelie has a thick, protective layer of blubber allowing these birds to live in the icy chill of Antarctica. Less graceful then the Emperor penguin, the Adelie is quite clumsy on land and falls frequently. However, in the water, the Adelie is an aquatic master. [BM] {FW}
