Flicker
There are 6 species of flickers; this Yellow-shafted Flicker is feeding her young. The
flicker has beautiful plumage decorated with spots and bars. Like most woodpeckers, the
flicker eats ants and other insects which it acquires by drilling holes just below the
surface of barked trees. The drumming of the flicker can be heard ringing through the open
country and lightly wooded areas it habitats in North and Central America.
