Darter
Darters have very long, slender necks. They hunt fish
with a fast thrust of their long pointed beak. Eaten whole, the
bones are regurgitated. The feathers on the Darter are dark with a bright sheen. Successful
fliers, some Darters migrate. Four species of Darter are found in the U.S., South
America, Africa, the Middle East, India, Madagascar, Asia, Australia and New Guinea.
