Weaver
There are approximately 70 species of weavers. These small birds reach lengths no greater
than 6 inches. These rather ordinary birds with dull, streaked plumage and conical,
seed-eating bills become quite extraordinary during breeding season.
During breeding season the male's plumage becomes more colourful.
The male spends time artistically weaving a nest for his prospective mate.
This redheaded weaver is just beginning construction. MORE!
