There are 42 species of vireos. Ranging in size from 4 to 7 inches, these are small, rather inconspicuous songbirds. With dull plumage of green or grey with white or yellow underparts, the vireo is well camouflaged as it flutters through the undergrowth in search of insects and larvae.
