There are over 300 species of tyrant-flycatchers. This photograph captures a paradise flycatcher. Ranging in size from 3 to 9 inches, the species differ greatly in plumage and in general appearance. Many tyrant-flycatcher feed primarily on insects, supplementing their diet with berries and fruit. Several species are known to be highly territorial attacking intruders much larger than itself.
