Thrasher
The thrasher measures about 10 inches in length, has a down turned beak, and brown plumage.
This species is known as a Curve-billed thrasher. The origin of the name thrasher is up for
some debate. Some believe that the name refers to the manner in which this birds disturbs
fallen leaves in search of insects; others believe the name refers to the manner in
which this bird beats insects upon the ground to kill them. Thrashers live primarily in the
southwestern United States.
