The tanager has fascinating breeding habits. These birds seem rather like overenthusiastic parents. Tanagers often feed their chicks other young tanagers or even of other species of birds. Male tanagers are also known to try to feed the unhatched eggs, presenting them food when the female is off the nest. This brightly coloured bird is a summer tanager. [BM] {FW}
