Sunbird
There are approximately 100 species of sunbirds. The largest of these small birds reaches 8
inches in length. However, the majority are under 6 inches. Sharing similarities with the
hummingbird, the sunbird has metallic plumage and feeds on nectar and minute insects. This
is a Purplebacked Sunbird found in Africa. More than half the known species of sunbirds are
found in the warm forested areas of Africa.
