Shrike
The shrike is a unique bird as it shares many qualities with large birds of prey. With keen
eyes the shrike is able to spot prey and attack. Using the sharp serrated edge of the upper
mandible the shrike, like the falcon, is able to sever the necks of small animals. Like the
butcherbird of Australia, the shrike is known to impale its prey. This is an orangebreasted
bush shrike. MORE!
