Oriole
The Latin word 'aureolus' means golden, and from this Latin word the oriole has received its
name. There are approximately 28 species of orioles, the bright yellow, black winged golden
oriole being the best known. A small to medium sized bird, the oriole is a forest loving
bird. The golden oriole is the only oriole which is found in Europe. The rest are found in
Asia, Africa and Australia. This Blackheaded Oriole is found in Africa.
