Nightingale
The nightingale has become a romanticized character for the inspiring beauty of the song it
sings on warm spring nights. This otherwise ordinary bird becomes extraordinary when it
delivers its loud, undulating rhythm of sounds. Nightingales are 6.5 inches in length and
have brown plumage, speckled with white on the undersurface. The nightingale is a shy bird
and is rarely seen emerging from the protection of the undergrowth. The nightingale can be
found throughout Europe, Asia and Africa.
