Jay
There are over 40 species of jay, the most colourful members of the crow family. The jay
with the widest distribution is the common jay. Similar in shape to the blue jay, the most
colourful of the jay family, the common jay has far more banal colours of brown, black,
white and a patch of blue on each wing. Jays tend to be shy and are easily recognized by
their unpleasant, raucous cries.
