The Gouldian finch, also commonly known as the rainbow finch, has plumage of green, blue, black, scarlet, lilac, orange and yellow. The lines between these brilliant colours on the male Gouldian finch are well defined. These colours alter slightly as the Gouldian finch has 4 or more colour phases. The Gouldian finch reaches an average length of 5 inches and has 2 long tail feathers and a short, solid beak. Feeding primarily on insects this finch climbs with great care on strands of grasses. The Gouldian finch can be found in northern Australia.
