Broadbill
There are 14 species of broadbills. They range in size from 5 to 11 inches and have rather
round bodies, short legs and broad, hooked beaks. Adult male broadbills often have bright
plumage, formed in colours such as green, yellow and black. The female broadbill is less
colourful than the male. This differencebetween the sexes is known as sexual dimorphism.
Several species of broadbill are able to
make noises with their wings which accompanies their whistling song. Broadbills live in
warm, moist jungles and tropical forests in south-east Asia.
