Sunbitterns are found in the tropical forests of South and Central America. They live as individuals or paired along the edge of wet, swampy woodlands. They are heron-like in appearance, with long neck, long bill and small head. The plumage is brown and grey decorated by black bands. The legs of the Sunbittern are bright orange. Sunbitterns are predominantly ground birds and spend a great deal of time standing motionless amongst the reeds. [BM] {FW}
