Kestrals include some of the smallest members of the falcon family. The common North American kestral is also known as the sparrowhawk. This species of kestral feeds primarily on sparrows and starlings. Kestrels are found throughout the world with the exception of the Antarctica. This photograph is of a female kestral, highlighted by red plumage. Kestrals have keen vision, able to spot small prey from a soaring height of 100 ft or more! [BM] {FW}
