Kingfisher

There are over 80 species of kingfishers. This bird is easily recognized by its characteristically stout body, short tail, bright plumage and long, solid beak. Found primarily in the tropics some species of kingfisher have the remarkable ability of diving into the water in pursuit of prey and swimming with fin like movements of the wings. Most kingfishers, however, feed on small land animals.
