Hammerhead
Reaching an average length of 20 inches, the hammerhead has a stout, solid body, large eyes
and an crest on the back of the head. The plumage is brown, highlighted by a soft purple
tinge. The hammerhead builds elaborate nests for its young. Often reaching 6 ft across, the
nest is a complete home with roof, walls and entrance door. These nests are so strong they
can withstand the weight of a person. Hammerheads are found throughout Africa.
