There are 4 species of flamingo, the largest, known as the Greater flamingo, stands at 4 ft. The plumage is pink and white, with sharp black flight feathers. Feeding in shallow waters, on tiny plants and animals, flamingos inhabit lakes and lagoons. Flamingos can be found in America, the Galapagos Islands, southern Europe, Africa, India and South America.
