Boatbill

Sorry, No Picture! There is one singular species of boatbill. Like members of the heron family, boatbills have long bodies and long necks. Boatbills reach an average length of about 2 ft and have a wingspan of 2.5 ft. They have soft grey plumage with a long black crown. The throat, breast and forehead are pure white. The boatbill has a fairly heavy beak which is as wide as it is broad. Like herons the boatbill lives near marshland and is found in South and Central America. [BM] {FW}
