Boatbill
There is one singular species of boatbill. Like members of the heron family, boatbills have
long bodies and long necks. Boatbills reach an average length of about 2 ft and have a
wingspan of 2.5 ft. They have soft grey plumage with a long black crown. The throat, breast
and forehead are pure white. The boatbill has a fairly heavy beak which is as wide as it is
broad. Like herons the boatbill lives near marshland and is found in South and Central
America.
