Seed-snipe
There are 4 species of seed-snipe. They have stout, rounded bodies and short bills. The legs
of the seed-snipe are very weak and this bird drops its body when landing to avoid pressure
on its legs. The smallest seed-snipe is 7 inches in length. They are coloured grey and black
with white underparts. As their name would suggest, seed-snipes feed primarily on seeds.
They are found in a wide range of habitats from the snowy edge of the Andes to fair pastures.
Seed-snipe are found exclusively in South America.
