Pratincole
There are 6 species of pratincole. These birds bear resemblance to swallows as they have
long, pointed wings and sharply forked tails. The plumage is brown with white underparts.
Pratincole live in open areas, such as deserts, grasslands and marsh land. In such habitats,
pratincole are able to find many insects for consumption. Flying through the air these
birds catch insects within their gaping beak. In Africa they are known to follow swarms of
locust. They live in the eastern hemisphere.
