The 5 species of noddy are characterized by their long, slender wings, short legs and sharply pointed bill. Noddies reach lengths between 12 and 16 in. They vary in colour from pure white to deep grey or dark brown. These delicate birds spend most of their time on the water, nesting on coastal cliffs. Like other terns they feed primarily on fish.
